Dubai’s management of Road and Transport Authority (RTA) will hold 6 auctions of prestigious automobile number plates

It is planned that they would be held every two months. Dubai was the first emirate to begin the conduct of automobile plate number auctions in 2002.
The first buyer of an unusual car plate number became the Crown Prince of Dubai Sheikh Mohammed Al Maktoum, who had paid 2 million dirhams for his favorite number ”7’’ some eight years ago.

The bidding of car numbers has since been organized in Abu Dhabi and Fujairah. In February 2008, a UAE local businessman Saeed Al-Khouri had paid a record price of $ 14.5 million for a plate with the number "1" on it. This recognition was recorded in the Guinness Book of Records.
